Application:

For illuminating visual flow indicators, pipelines, laboratory mixers, bio-reactors as well as the interior of tanks, hoppers, silos, agitators and other, normally closed, vessels and reactors in potentially explosive environments.
Gas: Zones 1 and 2, Dust: Zones 21 and 22.
Ideal for applications in sterile areas

IP 65 and IP 67 acc. to DIN EN 60529

Operating conditions:

Independent of the internal pressure/vacuum in the vessel. On no account should a sight glass luminaire be used as a substitute for the cover flange or instead of the complete sight glass flange assembly or on its own to close a vessel port.
Lumistar luminaires of this type are approved for use in ambient temperatures between -20°C and +40°C. Optional with 11° or 26° light aperture reflector

The Series ASL/ESL55-EX, an LED luminaire that can be used with a sight glass in hazardous areas, reducing maintenance costs and allows companies to meet green initiatives. Before now, the only explosion-proof rated luminaires available were very low power, providing little light for viewing. Now companies who want to reduce their carbon footprint can obtain a high-power, Ex-rated LED luminaire that gives operators a well-lit glare-free view of processes through a sight glass. This luminarie is available is made with a 316 stainless steel (Esl 55-LED Ex) housing for harsh environments. Compared to traditional halogen luminaires, the new green-technology LED Lumiglas® luminaires from L.J. Star produce cool light and have an exceptionally long life, making them ideal for heat-sensitive processes and use in sight glass applications where exceptional reliability and low maintenance are required. These new luminaires have an operating life of approximately 50,000 hours… more than five and a half years of maintenance-free operation – 50 times that of a halogen bulb. A major pharmaceutical company estimated it will save $5000 in maintenance costs over 5-1/2 years due to the longer life of the LEDs compared to halogen bulbs. With these savings, the premium cost of the luminaire is recouped within 1-1/2 years (not including the savings in energy.) What’s more, there will be fewer interruptions in process viewing that could adversely affect a high-value process product. The ability to produce light without heat, plus an exceptionally long life make the new green-technology LED Lumiglas® luminaires from L.J.
