This makes obround windows well suited to observing behavior that plays out across a distance. Liquid level, phase separation, foam formation and other process behaviors all yield more information through an elongated window.
That wider view supports process optimization. Watching how a process behaves over a larger area gives engineers more information for fine-tuning throughput, timing or blending steps.
Every sight glass eventually collects some residue. Round sight glasses face condensation, splashing, powders and crystallization. Buildup can accumulate between cleaning cycles.
Obround sight glasses face similar challenges with the addition of a geometric constraint. The elongated shape cannot accommodate a rotating wiper mechanism, so mechanical cleaning during operation is not an option.
Round sight glasses benefit from two complementary tools. A rotating wiper can clear the glass surface, and a properly positioned spray nozzle can rinse away residue before it hardens. Paired with spray nozzles, the wiper can keep the glass clear without system disassembly.
Obround sight glasses call for a different approach. LJ Star obround sight glass assemblies can be specified with internal spray nozzles. Positioned correctly, these nozzles reach across the full elongated length of the window, including the corners where residue tends to collect.
